Welcome to PixelZ. If you've ever wanted to make pixel art — for a game, for fun, or just because the look hits something in you — this is built for that.

PixelZ lives in the browser. No download, no setup, no fighting with installers on a Tuesday night. Open the editor, pick a canvas, and start placing pixels. Your projects save automatically, and once you sign in they sync to the cloud, so you can pick up on a different machine and keep going.

What's inside

The full set of tools you'd expect — pencil, eraser, bucket, line, rectangle, circle, eyedropper, move — plus selections (rectangle, lasso, magic wand) for moving things around. Layers, mirrored drawing, pixel-perfect mode, undo up to 100 steps.

There's a frame timeline when you want to animate — a walk cycle, a flickering torch, a bouncing coin — with onion skin, and you can export the result as an animated GIF or a sprite sheet.

And if drawing every pixel sounds like a Saturday you don't have, the AI generator will sketch a sprite from a text prompt. It's not magic — you'll still want to clean up edges by hand — but it gets you 80% of the way for backgrounds, items, and props.

You can also drop existing images onto the canvas — PixelZ auto-detects the pixel grid in upscaled PNGs and imports them at their true resolution. Aseprite files round-trip in and out.

The free plan is real

No sign-up is required to draw — the editor runs in your browser as a guest. A free account (no credit card) adds cloud sync, 20 projects, 5 custom palettes, and 9 AI credits a month. If you outgrow that, paid plans go up to 1,100 credits/month with unlimited projects.

PixelZ is actively developed. Some features are still rolling out — you'll see "coming soon" notes in this documentation where that's the case. Honest about what works today, honest about what's next.
