Animate

Animate a pixel-art sprite from a prompt or between keyframes: engines, frames, credits, and how to start from the right pose.

The Animate page animates a sprite from a prompt like "walking cycle, side view". Add one reference image to animate it, or two or more as keyframes to animate between them.

Options

  • Engine — v1.1 (8 credits) or v1.5 (11 credits); keyframes cost 9.
  • Frames — 2–16 in steps of 2 (v1.5 needs at least 4). Canvas 32–256 px, or keep the reference's size.
  • Transparent background, palette, seed, and per-frame flips.

Download a sprite sheet PNG or an animated GIF, adjust the background cut, or open the animation in the editor. Animations are kept in My Assets.

Start from the right pose

The animation follows the pose of the still sprite. A character standing straight won't loop a good walk or run, so first use Edit to put it into the pose of the motion, then animate that.

If the animation comes out wrong, fix the still sprite — its pose, silhouette or a gap in the outline — and animate again.

Tip: Chain the tools: generate a character, Edit it into the pose of the motion, animate it, then fix the frames by hand in the editor.
