1. Sign up
Go to Pixelz.ioand click Start Creating — no account needed. Sign up any time to sync your work to the cloud.
2. Create your first project
On your Home page, click New project. Give it a name and pick a canvas size, up to 1024×1024. Common starting points:
- 16×16 — icons, tiles, UI elements
- 32×32 — characters, items, small sprites
- 64×64 — detailed characters, scene props
- 128×128 and up — backgrounds, splash art
3. Editor layout
- Colors and AI (left) — palette and color picker, and the AI generation panel in a second tab
- Canvas (center) — your artwork; scroll to zoom, space-drag to pan
- Toolbar (right) — drawing and selection tools
- Timeline (bottom) — frames, and a row per layer to add, reorder, hide, lock and merge (right-click a layer)
4. Place your first pixel
Press B for the pencil, click a color in the palette, then click on the canvas. Press Ctrl+Z to undo.
5. Save and export
Projects auto-save while you work — in your browser as a guest, and to the cloud once you sign in. To export, open the export dialog from the File menu — see Export.
Tip: Start with a small canvas (32×32 or 64×64) and a limited palette (8–16 colors). It's easier to learn pixel art with constraints.
