Pixel editor

Tools

Overview of every tool in the PixelZ editor — drawing, selection, and AI tools — with their keyboard shortcuts.

Every tool has a single-key shortcut. Press the key to switch tools instantly. Hold Alt at any time for a temporary eyedropper, and Ctrl+drag with any tool to move the layer.

Drawing

  • B Pencil — paint single pixels; drag for freehand lines
  • E Eraser — remove pixels (sets alpha to 0)
  • G Bucket Fill — fill connected pixels of the same color
  • L Line — straight lines between two points
  • R Rectangle — outlined rectangles in the brush size
  • C Circle — ellipses; hold Shift for a perfect circle
  • V Move — move the layer's content
  • I Eyedropper — sample a color from the canvas

Selection

  • M Rectangle Select — drag to select a rectangular region
  • Q Lasso — freehand selection
  • W Magic Wand — select connected pixels of the same color

Hold Shift while dragging to add to the selection; drag with the right button to subtract. With an active selection: drag inside to move, arrow keys to nudge by 1 px, Delete to clear, Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V to copy / paste, Escape to deselect. Without a selection, copy, paste and Delete work on the whole layer in the current frame.

Drag a handle to scale (Shift keeps the proportions) or rotate (Shift snaps to 15°, Ctrl to 90°).

AI tool

  • J AI Area — mark a region on the canvas for AI generation; Escape clears it

See AI Features for prompt tips, sizes, and credit costs.

Symmetry and pixel-perfect

  • Shift+X — toggle horizontal mirror
  • Shift+Y — toggle vertical mirror
  • Shift+0 — reset mirror axis to center
  • Shift+P — toggle pixel-perfect mode (removes double pixels on diagonal strokes)
